• i was talking with a friend the other day about what age or point in life you start to feel like a real adult. we thought maybe when you have kids, or own a home, or hit milestones that we haven’t hit yet. sadly, this stemmed from a conversation about how we still really really like to drink at any and all points throughout the week, despite being more than a few years out of undergrad.

• related, later that evening, i accidentally cursed (f bomb) in front of a friend’s mother. i was mortified. since then, i have thought that maybe the point at which you feel like an adult is when you can confidently curse in front of other people’s moms and not worry about it because you are both mature, contributing members of society. so, i’m still a child.

• file under “things that consistently and truly boggle my mind” = the postal system.

• these olympic late nights are really making my work day drag.

• related, does anyone else have trouble distinguishing between the “i am so tired i need more coffee” and the “OMG i have had too much coffee” feeling?

• i work in sales, and i regularly refer to groups of people as “you guys,” even when talking to a woman. do you think anyone is offended by this?

  1. relovingit answered: I had a friend who wouldn’t say “you guys.” I try to avoid it myself, but haven’t’ found a good alternative. Maybe the Southern “ya’ll?” :)
  2. tranceend said: thought 5: depends on what sales you’re in. if you work in some hipster boutique on the lower east side in NYC, “you guys” is universally OK. at Sak’s 5th Avenue probably not so much.
  3. omgwedding answered: I’m a total “you guys” offender. I try to curb it because I don’t know if people (women) will be offended, but it always slips out!
  4. tranceend answered: thougt 1: the only milestones that truly matter are the ones you set for yourself not what society expects you to accept as such
