new (to me) internet things
soap.com
this is an online store where you can get stuff like toilet paper, toothpaste, shampoo - delivered to your house. it’s free 1-2 day shipping over $39, they have all the common brands, and everything is on par with target pricing, if not a bit less. it’s also tied to wag.com (pet stuff) and casa.com (home goods), so it’s rull easy to get to that free shipping...

the great DC house hunt
bobby and i recently decided that we’re ready to buy. i’m tired of paying what we do in rent for 700 square feet, and it seems like we’ll be in the area (and you know, together) for the immediately foreseeable future. our requirements: • 2+ bedrooms • 2+ bathrooms (i’ll take 1 1/2, but i’d prefer 2 full) • dog friendly, obviously • easy parking…a space,...

fleurir chocolates
i’ve blogged about fleurir chocolates very briefly before, but now that they have retail space in georgetown they definitely warrant a post.
long story short, my friends robert and ashley make chocolate. really, really, incredible, beautiful chocolate, in amazing flavors and combos. they also happen to be married, and the coolest people ever (the whole chocolate thing helps, of course)....

on the menu for the foreseeable future…all of these recipes are from you all somehow.
• tacos, always • creamy tomato basil pasta • slow cooker pork carnitas • bbq chicken sammies (i use this sauce, imported from NC) with quinoa mac-n-cheese • spaghetti bolognese (i double the carrots + celery because that’s the best part. i also like, quadruple the tomato paste - not sure why this...

currently reading
it’s odd that i’m reading a few books at once so i figured i’d share:
dance of dragons, george r. r. martin (otherwise known as a song of ice and fire, book five)
because…duh. these books are incredible and you need to read them. i’m almost done and beyond frustrated that i won’t be able to immediately start the next one.
an idiot abroad: the travel...

chipper jones to retire after the 2012 season
battybatz:
To me, the Braves have always been Chipper Jones. For as long as I can remember, I have been a Braves fan, and that has been synonymous with being a Chipper Jones fan. I remember when I was younger, asking my dad one time: “If Chipper Jones left the Braves, would you still be a Braves fan?” He answered that of course he would, and I realize now that of course I would to. But at the...

the art of stressing yourself out
• wake up with no real agenda except to attend work and eat meals. • take out the dog, get dressed, pack lunch, stop at starbucks. • eat breakfast, casually check work email. • get rue la la/gilt/hautelook emails. worry will miss something awesome so look at every page. • find a rug that you like. realize that in your 700 square foot apartment, there is no room for a new rug. bookmark the rug on...
