a montage of recent halloween costumes:
2005, fanta girl. last sexy costume ever. i’m not sure people would get this one anymore.
2006, zeus. still one of my favorite costumes ever, and when i discovered that beards are the way to go.
2007, bee. my heart wasn’t in this one. there had been a break up, this was thrown together, and i just want to apologize for the general lack...

warm winter coats
i’m starting to prepare myself for berlin and i’m looking at coats and boots. i would like a knee-ish length coat that will keep me warm without having to layer too much, and boots that will keep my feet warm but also comfortable for long days of walking.
i have some ideas here…but does anyone (especially you cold weather dwellers) have any reccs for either?

i forgot to mention that my hair at gina’s wedding was AWESOME. finally got some pics back. i* used this (the french braid bun at refinery 29), lowered the bun…and i got compliments all night.
*by i, i mean my talented hairdresser friend. i can’t do an updo to save my life, much less an upside down french braid.

below, a shirt i bought from forever a few weeks ago for about $15:
then surfing piperlime, saw this:
sleeveless secretary blouse, collective concepts, $78.
it’s the exact same fabric. i wish i knew which came first. or how textiles work. whenever i discover things like this i feel like an awesome fashion detective.

FLOR tiles: don’t buy them.
we got sucked in by all the cool ads in CB2 and thought it would be a relatively cheaper alternative to an area rug for our apartment. i also thought the mismatched tile thing would look cool. they were easy to install, just like they claim, and did look alright.
but then about three or four months in, the tiles started fraying on the edges and pulling apart.

tips and tricks...
i found these via pinterest (via my friend jessica)…some interesting ideas!
• take your bananas apart when you get home from the store. If you leave them connected at the stem, they ripen faster. • store your opened chunks of cheese in aluminum foil. they will stay fresh much longer and not mold. • peppers with 3 bumps on the bottom are sweeter and better for eating. peppers...

adventures in dog ownership
(she likes to lay with me when i’m reading)
as i mentioned briefly, little tonks has been having some ISSUES. it started over the summer, when she developed an odd rash on her belly. i took her to the vet and they diagnosed it as acne. and the prescription? stridex pads. i called bobby and told him that we apparently had skipped ahead several years and were raising a teenage girl.

that awkward moment...
…when i leave a voicemail for a someone who owes me a contract, hang up, immediately start talking shit about that person…answer some emails, read a few blog posts…and realize i’ve left a 12 minute voicemail and never hung up.
whoops.

stitch fix, #2
so i got my second stitch fix shipment (click here to read about number one) and it was SO much better. they changed the survey around and i think asked much better questions about sizing and style. i genuinely liked everything i got and wish i could afford to buy it all.
here’s what came (again, i win no awards for photography so i tried to find things online):
#1.

tumblr question
okay this is kind of particular, but i read a great deal of your blogs in google reader. when i want to like them (in the tumblr way) i just click the post title, hit the heart, go back to reader. however, sometimes i want to REPLY in the tumblr way, in which case i have to go back to the dashboard, somehow find your post - which may be days old at this point - and then do my replying.
this is...

busy busy busy
apologies for the lack of posts lately…i’ve been busy doing non-blog-worthy things like:
• schoolwork • job work • eating all the foods, but nothing new or exciting • re-watching friday night lights* and the first season of community • taking my dog to the vet (as yet undiagnosed allergy, annoying and expensive) • shopping for stuff like rugs and plates…snore
i’ll try to...

i need something super warm and super comfortable as i’ll be spending all day walking around museums. i just want to know what the comfort level is…

tristin lowe, mocha dick, at VMFA.
Tristin Lowe’s colossal sculpture Mocha Dick is a fifty-two-feet-long recreation of the real-life albino sperm whale that terrorized early 19th-century whaling vessels near Mocha Island in the South Pacific. Mocha Dick, described in appearance as “white as wool,” engaged in battle with numerous whaling expeditions and inspired Herman Melville’s...
