waking early sunday morning
O to break loose, like the chinook salmon jumping and falling back, nosing up to the impossible stone and bone-crushing waterfall – raw-jawed, weak-fleshed there, stopped by ten steps of the roaring ladder, and then to clear the top on the last try, alive enough to spawn and die.

i’m (somewhat embarassingly) in love with the l.l. bean signature collection. this shirt is one of my most favorites, and i got the new catalog yesterday…and gasped when i saw this jacket:
seriously perfect. wearing a leather jacket knowing it was made by l.l. bean would give me weird contradictory pleasure. and as far as leather jackets go, it’s reasonably priced at $399.
